LWC Token

A Lancashire Watch Company factory token.  (From an individual who obtained material from the remnants of the LWC.)

The diameter is 2 centimetres.  One side has the characteristic wheel, similar to the one on the logo on the front sleeve of the book (Book Sleeve).  The other side contains the LWC name and ‘Sale Birm.’  The latter refers to ‘H. B. Sale’ a Birmingham ‘die sinkers’ company.  Its use is not known.  It might have been to identify workers, tools, equipment, in the factory.  Given it is numbered ‘16’ it might have been used to identify watch movements!  If anyone has the definitive answer, please contact me.
